Our caregivers are the heart and soul of Sherpas for Seniors. We carefully select individuals who possess a genuine passion for bringing positive energy and companionship into seniors' lives. Their presence radiates warmth, creating a comfortable and uplifting environment for your loved ones.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of care and companionship. Our caregivers undergo thorough background checks and extensive interviews to ensure their qualifications and dedication. We continuously monitor their performance, maintain open lines of communication with seniors and their families, and welcome feedback to ensure that we are consistently providing a comfortable and fulfilling experience.
Cindy has provided compassionate support to senior family members and friends for many years and is excited to continue doing so as a member of the Sherpas for Seniors team. She believes seniors should be celebrated and particularly enjoys learning their backgrounds and life lessons.
When her husband John was diagnosed with neurocognitive brain disease at age 48, Cindy co-founded YouQuest, a charity that operates a wellness day program for Calgarians under age 65 living with dementia. The service provides socialization and stimulating activities for the participants as well as respite and support for care partners.
Cindy and John both hail from Calgary and enjoy spending time with their two adult children, going on “surprise adventures” and volunteering with YouQuest.
Elise, once shy, found solace in animals, using their companionship to conquer her own timidity and shape her career. Following her father's passing in 2016, her mother entered assisted living, burdened by health issues. Regular visits to the care center revealed the stark loneliness many seniors faced, prompting Elise to introduce her Pyrenees mix, Pepsi, as a remedy.
Pepsi's gentle presence brought solace to Elise's mother, inspiring her to extend this comfort to other seniors. Taking Pepsi on visits to care centers ignited positive reactions—initial hesitance faded into radiant joy and newfound tranquility. Elise's simple yet profound mission brightens the lives of isolated seniors, underscoring the worthiness of our elderly population, who deserve affection and acknowledgment.
For the past 6 years, Merric has taken on the role of the proud owner of "Sherpas for Seniors." Initially drawn into this venture by a referral to assist a senior's healing at Staywell Manor, her background in the healing arts spanning over 30 years has guided her path. A remarkable journey unfolded as she helped a gentleman regain his wife's affection through a disciplined routine of morning walks, meditation, Sat Nan Rasayan healing, and rekindling his love for the piano.
This success story fueled Merric's dedication to enhancing seniors' well-being. Accompanying them daily, she harmonized her expertise with heartwarming activities such as sharing tea, engaging in board games, savoring classical music, and shared reading. Through the sagacity and narratives of these seniors, Merric found herself profoundly blessed and she aspires to ignite the desire in others to embrace the invaluable companionship that seniors truly deserve.
